Event Details
Rosemaling is a cherished Scandinavian folk art that reflects a rich cultural history. This art is often seen across the Midwest at museums and heritage festivals, and on at least one pot-holder or fridge magnet in your grandma’s or a friend’s great-aunt’s house, inspiring a sense of community and tradition.
Known for its flowing scrollwork, ornate curves, and floral designs, rosemaling is a decorative painting style rooted in rural Norwegian tradition, dating back to the 1700s. Join local artist Molly McLain, whose expertise will guide you through this introductory class.
Molly will guide teens and adults at any artistic skill level (except Norwegian trolls/ Swedish tomtes) through basic strokes of beginning rosemaling in the Telemark regional style. By the end, you'll have practice sheets and your own small acrylic-painted folk art piece to be proud of.
Space is limited, and registration is required. Registeronline or call 701-355-1480 to reserve your spot. Registration opens on January 5, 2026.
